Muskogee is celebrated for its large, abundant clusters (panicles) of light lavender to pinkish-lavender flowers. The blooms appear in mid-summer and continue for a very long season, providing a beautiful, soft purple hue to the landscape. The leaves are a handsome, glossy green during the growing season. In the fall, they put on a spectacular display, turning vibrant shades of red, orange, and even reddish-purple, which provides significant seasonal interest.
