Black Diamond Purely Purple Crape Myrtle
Black Diamond Purely Purple Crape Myrtle
Purely Purple produces abundant clusters (panicles) of vivid, almost fuchsia or amethyst-hued purple flowers. These crinkled, crepe-paper-like blooms appear in masses from early summer until the first frost, offering a very long season of color. The foliage however, is arguably its most distinctive feature. The leaves emerge in spring with a deep burgundy-black color and retain this striking, dark hue throughout the entire growing season until frost. This provides a stunning backdrop for the flowers and strong contrast in the landscape. For the foliage to stay its darkest, full sun is essential.
