The most striking feature of the Prairie Fire Dogwood is its brilliant orange-red stems, which provide a powerful splash of color in the winter, especially against a snowy backdrop. The leaves emerge a bright, golden-yellow in the spring, fading to a softer yellow or chartreuse in the summer. In the fall, the foliage turns a stunning red. It produces clusters of small, creamy-white flowers in late spring, which are followed by white berries that are a food source for birds in mid-summer.
