This cultivar is notable because it is a female plant that can produce red berries even without a nearby male pollinator, due to its ability to self-pollinate or through parthenocarpy (fruit development without fertilization). However, berry production will be much more abundant and reliable if a male pollinator like 'China Boy' or 'Blue Prince' is planted nearby. Features dense, glossy, and intensely dark green leaves that provide year-round color and texture. The leaves have the classic spiny margins typical of Meserve hollies, but they are generally less prickly than some older cultivars. New growth often has a slight reddish tint. Produces small, inconspicuous white flowers in spring.
