Soft Touch Compact Japanese Holly - 3 Gallon Container
Soft Touch Compact Japanese Holly - 3 Gallon Container
The leaves are the defining feature. They are very small (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch long), oval and a rich, dark green. Critically, they are soft to the touch and entirely spineless, making this holly a pleasure to work with and an excellent alternative to boxwood or more prickly hollies. Inconspicuous small, white flowers appear in spring. It can produce small, black, pea-sized berries in the fall if a male Ilex crenata pollinator is nearby. However, the berries are not a primary ornamental feature and are often sparse or go unnoticed.
