Boston ivy is a vigorous, deciduous woody vine in the grape family. Its leaves are a glossy dark green in summer, typically simple with three pointed lobes. They turn brilliant scarlet-red to purple in fall. New growth can be purplish. It provides excellent seasonal interest, erosion control, and energy savings by shading buildings in summer while letting sun through in winter.
