Midnight Wine Weigela is a very compact, dwarf deciduous shrub prized for its dramatic dark foliage and bright spring blooms. It’s a smaller version of the popular Wine & Roses weigela, making it excellent for tight spaces. The foliage is a deep burgundy-purple to nearly black with a metallic or wavy appearance. The dark color provides strong all-season contrast and holds well in summer. Profuse reddish-pink to hot pink tubular/trumpet-shaped blooms emerge in mid- to late spring. It attracts hummingbirds and butterflies; some light rebloom may occur.
