Summertime Blues Chaste Tree
Summertime Blues Chaste Tree
The flowers are its most celebrated feature. Summertime Blues Chaste Tree produces an abundance of showy spikes (racemes) of deep, rich blue to violet flowers. The bloom period is exceptionally long, starting in early to mid-summer and continuing into the fall, providing color when many other shrubs have finished. The flowers are highly attractive to pollinators, especially bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. The leaves are palmately compound, with 5-7 finger-like leaflets, giving them a delicate, almost fern-like texture. They are a grayish-green on top and silvery-gray underneath, and they have an aromatic, sage-like scent when crushed. It has a naturally multi-stemmed, upright, and rounded habit. It can be grown as a large shrub or trained into a small, multi-trunked tree.
