Sweet Bay Magnolia - 7 Gallon Container
Sweet Bay Magnolia - 7 Gallon Container
The leaves are a key ornamental feature to the Sweet Bay Magnolia. They are a glossy, dark green on top with a silvery-white or glaucous underside. They provide a beautiful two-toned effect, especially when the wind rustles them. From late spring to early summer, the tree produces creamy-white, cup-shaped flowers. They are smaller than those of the Southern Magnolia, but they are intensely fragrant, with a wonderful lemony scent that can perfume a large area. After flowering, it produces an attractive cluster of bright red, cone-like fruits that are a favorite of birds.
