Redwood Creeping Wintergreen - 1 Gallon Container
Redwood Creeping Wintergreen - 1 Gallon Container
The Redwood is a superb evergreen groundcover highly valued for its multi-season interest, especially the dramatic color it provides in winter. It is a native North American plant that is well-suited for shaded, acidic soil areas. The leaves are glossy, leathery, and dark green throughout the summer. As temperatures drop in fall and winter, the foliage takes on beautiful hues of burgundy-red to deep purple, creating a striking contrast with its berries. When crushed, the leaves release the distinctive, fresh scent of wintergreen. In early to mid-summer (June-July), small, nodding, bell-shaped flowers of light pink to white appear. The flowers give way to edible, bright red berries (also called Checkerberries or Teaberries) in the fall. These berries persist through the winter, often lasting until spring, providing a vibrant pop of color against the dark foliage and snow.
